James has been instructed in relation to the judicial review of local authority decisions. He also has experience of prison law and licensing applications.

He has undertaken applications on behalf of the police for closure orders and risk of sexual harm orders. He has assisted leading counsel in advising on the legality of police searches in high profile investigations. He has also advised in relation to civil claims against the police.

On the financial side, James has been involved in the investigation of major banks and investment funds by regulatory authorities.

James is also regularly instructed by interested persons to appear at coroner’s inquests, including cases involving alleged fault by hospital trusts, schools and other institutions.
