James undertakes the full range of children’s law cases in the County Court and High Court, including those with an international element.

His particular expertise is in public law care and adoption proceedings where he regularly appears for local authorities, parents and children in complex cases. His experience includes proceedings involving non-accidental injury, sexual abuse and mental health issues. James has also been instructed to act in relation to the judicial review of decisions made by Children’s Services.

James is the co-author of an article on adoption (“Guidance on the Adoption and Children Act 2002: re P” Family Law – August 2008).

He also has experience of forced marriage cases.
