David’s international experience is broad and covers the range of criminal, civil and regulatory issues.

David has worked with and for investigating and prosecuting authorities throughout the world, including Pakistan, Africa, the United States, Switzerland and a number of offshore jurisdictions. He has vast practical experience of mutual legal assistance (and related public international law issues) and has given talks and seminars on this area and on corruption, international crime and extradition for the UNODC/OSCE/OECD in Central Asia and for an NGO and the UN in South Asia. He advises on issues arising from EU and UN sanctions and has appeared in the Administrative Court in extradition proceedings.

David was junior counsel in three 3 commission hearings in India, has worked with the United States Department of Justice on two civil forfeiture cases and advised a Middle Eastern government on FATF issues.

David is instructed to advise on jurisdiction and the conflict of laws in civil proceedings. His clients in this area have included an international mining company, the Kenyan and Pakistani governments and a former high profile Asian politician. He has also advised on international investment arbitration in the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (‘ICSID’), on jurisdiction and related matters in relation to the Dubai International Financial Centre (‘DIFC’) courts and on the war crime of Pillage.

David has particular knowledge of the offshore world, especially Jersey.

David is called to the Queensland and Australian Federal bars, is currently called to the bar in the Turks and Caicos Islands for a specific case and has acted as junior counsel in hearings in the Indian courts.
